Who Knew?

Carbonation is the product of carbon dioxide being placed into an aqueous solution such as water or soda.

Little do people know that carbonation breaks down calcium in your bones causing tooth decay or osteoporosis. It also increases the amount of alcohol absorbed into the bloodstream, which is why we often mix our favorite with a fizzy drink.

Carbonation does have the benefit of helping ward off pesky bacteria. So if traveling to a foreign country, opt for the carbonated water instead.

Chronic burping often caused by too much ingestion of carbonated beverages can lead to inflammation of stomach lining, peptic ulcer disease, or gastroparesis.
